Requirements

• Windows and Linux/AIX OS administration and troubleshooting – average
• Shell script – average
• General SQL knowledge (Select, Insert, Update)
• Application Server (WebSphere) – basic
• HTTP Server (IBM) - basic
• Programming languages – general concepts (variables, functions, control structures)
• Networking – general networking concepts




Nice to have:

• Monitoring technologies (IBM APM, IBM Tivoli Monitoring, IBM NetCool Omnibus, IBM NetCool Impact, New Relic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Nagios, Zabbix, etc.) would be a plus
• Programming languages (Perl, Python or Java) would be a plus
• Virtualization technologies (VMware, PowerPC) would be a plus
• Cloud technologies would be a plus
• Database technologies (DB2, MySQL, MS SQL, MongoDB, etc) would be a plus

Responsibilities

• Understand client’s monitoring requirements and translate them in specific monitoring metrics
• Install and configure applications (various monitoring agents, data collectors, probes, etc.) on various server architectures
• Troubleshoot Operating System issues
• Troubleshoot communication errors between agents and monitoring servers
• Troubleshoot monitoring component issues for end-points (agents) and for core monitoring servers
• Create custom monitoring agents / modules using various programming languages
• Automate monitoring activities (provisioning of monitoring agents, runbook automation, etc.)
• Create Netcool Impact policies (IPL) to operate events received from various monitoring tools
