LSEG and Microsoft have entered an exciting strategic partnership for the development of next-generation data, analytics and cloud infrastructure solutions. Our customers' needs are evolving and so are financial markets. This partnership will transform the way customers discover, analyse and trade securities around the world. It will also advance our cloud strategy and build the improved resilience, efficiency and agility that our customers need. All of Microsoft's customers will also have access to our data and analytics capabilities through a single flexible infrastructure that is intuitive and responsive. If you are interested in being a part of this dynamic strategic partnership, we look forward to considering your skills and experience.
ROLE PROFILE:
An opportunity to work at the heart of the Foundation & Migration (F&M, or Foundation+) workstream on the LSEG/ Microsoft Partnership.
The Data and Integration Tooling Lead will work in the Cloud Migration Office, whose remit covers all pillars across Foundation+. Reporting to the Head of CMO, they will work closely with SMEs across all Foundation+ pillars, as well as with counterparts from other Partnership workstreams and colleagues in the Central Partnership Management Office (CPMO).
ROLE SUMMARY:
The focus of this role is on the tooling required to support the overall Foundation + programme. There will be a wide range of tools required to support the overall programme. While some tools may be integrated, numerous internal systems will need to be interrogated to provide latest status, reference data and updates.
Additionally, we will need to build a change control process that has clear transparency and that provides a basis for audit. This will require the integration of multiple systems (likely using a data lake or similar) via APIs, Datafeeds, or files.
The maturity of these source and integrated systems will vary for some time. Data needing to be captured and tracked from a programme level will include: Deliverables for the programme overall and each workstream, risks/issues, deliverables per app teams migration (of which there will be several)
Example use cases
- Within the operating model we may decide to track progress of app decommissioning as a milestone. This role is accountable for building an API into the core system where the data is stored and interrogate that data
- The program may have a requirement to capture risks. This role is accountable for identifying potential risks BY looking at reported risks, adding in data from core systems to validate/challenge and/or building dashboards to share these with external teams (op risk).
- The programme will identify tracking deliverables/milestones. This role will consider previous behavior/patterns of teams who have done this before, and use predictive analytics to determine if teams are behind schedule or if they are facing issues (example, a team that's meant to migrate is showing green, but hasn't completed training)
What does good look like?
- Engaging with all colleagues in accordance with partnership principles
- Championing progressive, modern ways of working
- Establishing effective working relationships with engineering teams
- No dips in performance; an ability to overcome blockers and keep delivering outcomes.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Integration: Focusing on the end-to-end tooling and integration required to support the Foundation+ workstream.
Data Quality: Owning the integrity of reporting data across Foundation+
- Operating Model: Defining an end-to-end operating model across any tooling required to support:
- Deliverables for each workstream
- Deliverables for individual app teams covering their full scope (cloud migration of workloads + refactoring of application + data migration + decom of on-prem assets; at the level of depth required (app, workload, phases, tranches)
- Risks and issues
- Change control registers
- Associated levels of confidence, dates
- Automated status gathering for all of the above via interrogation of core systems of record and moving the deliverables/risk/issues/etc through their lifecycle as a result
- N.B. These activities are expected to continuously evolve as new tools come online.
Integration: Developing APIs to feed required dashboards and reporting to provide transparency and a single source of the truth both within and outside of the programme
Automated Reporting: Producing decks and status reports, where required, through automation
Tooling: Negotiating with tooling teams to meet Foundation+ requirements, managing our change requests with them, building any custom APIs or feeds we require to interrogate or feed core systems and fill any gaps in tooling, building dashboards and workflow
Automated Change control: Providing block chain level tracking on the lifecycle of deliverables and commitments by the application teams, which will evolve over time due to changes in approach, products and services available, deliverables, constraints and other factors (producible on demand for Audit/Compliance teams)
Working closely with the PMO teams across the workstream and within the partnership to ensure data captured is relevant and comprehensive
Working closely with operational risk and internal audit to ensure the multi-threaded, multi-year traceability is to the depth required to satisfy LSEG requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
A structured, methodical approach is essential. Like any major transformation initiative, the programme is constantly evolving and changing quickly. You must be able to stay abreast of change and respond accordingly.
An ability to work with a wide variety of people is vital. We will be working with people from several 3rd party companies as well as teams from across LSEG, both within Technology and beyond.
An upbeat, cheerful disposition always helps. It's important to be able to lighten the mood and have some fun along the way.
Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written. High quality output is expected at this level; the Foundation+ CMO publishes material for consumption by senior members of both LSEG and Microsoft. Presentation counts!
WHAT YOU'LL GET IN RETURN:
We are looking for intellectually curious people, passionate about the bigger picture of how technology industry is evolving, ready to ask tough questions and deal with complicated scenarios. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a history of leading by example, getting involved in the detail when necessary, and overcoming hurdles to deliver continuous improvement for organisations.
