    Role Overview

    The DataScope suite of applications is part of our Pricing and Reference Service business. It is a respected application used in the wider finance industry where clients can download both market data in bulk form or in customized reports. The application has 4k+ external clients who consume financial data to analyse funds and the market position of global industry players.

    In this role, you'll be joining Enterprise Data Solutions as a Senior Oracle Developer working on our DataScope suite of applications.

    As an Oracle Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Oracle database solutions to support our organization's business needs. You will work closely with multi-functional teams to understand requirements, design efficient database structures, write optimized SQL queries, and ensure the integrity, security, and performance of the database systems.

    Responsibilities

    Database Design: Design and implement Oracle database solutions based on business requirements, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability. Development: Develop and maintain complex PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and triggers to support application functionality and business processes.

    Query Optimization: Write efficient SQL queries, analyze and optimize existing queries and database structures for improved performance.

    Data Integration: Integrate Oracle databases with other systems and applications, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency.

    Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies in database systems.

    Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user authentication, authorization, and data encryption, to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

    Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures to minimize data loss and downtime in case of system failures. Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including database schema, data dictionaries, and system architecture diagrams. Collaboration: Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure database solutions meet business requirements and align with overall IT strategies.

    Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with Oracle technologies, best practices, and industry trends to propose and implement innovative solutions and improvements.

    Required Skills

    • Proven experience as an Oracle Developer.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
    • Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL programming, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and packages.
    • Solid understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling, and database design principles.
    • Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting in Oracle databases.
    • Familiarity with database security concepts and best practices.
    • Experience with Oracle database tools such as SQL Developer, TOAD, or PL/SQL Developer.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

    Preferred Skills

    • Oracle certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
    • Experience with Oracle Exadata, Oracle RAC, or other Oracle high-availability solutions.
    • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL tools (e.g., Oracle Data Integrator).
    • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
