    Role Description:

    This role will be leading a team with varied strengths of engineers who build and run the systems which host automation and orchestration capabilities within I&C. With responsibility for implementing the Product-Oriented Strategy for our area - guiding and coordinating the re-platforming and implementation of applications and cloud infrastructure while providing technical direction and facilitating the resolution of cloud/application engineering challenges.

    With a "you build it, you run it" mentality- the availability of the applications is also a key component of the role. For the delivery element, the team works within an agile framework and work to help establish a DevOps culture through the application of the DevOps pillars.

    There will be occasional weekend work required as Saturdays are used to test and roll forward software and cloud infra releases.

    The role will also be the local lead for the wider team in Bucharest - engaging with Business Mgmt on the wider local initiatives that typically happen.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Hire, lead and develop a to achieve strategic and operational objectives
    • Lead, develop, support and maintain critical automation applications
    • Team management; demand management, maintaining a shift and on-call rota, regular one to ones, team meetings, annual appraisals
    • Part of the wider senior leadership team on-call rota
    • Providing vision and direction to direct reports located in Bucharest and India
    • Gain an in-depth knowledge of the unit's processes and ensure team compliance with these processes with solid focus on driving down incidents and problems while delivering changes
    • Advocate and promote cloud engineering, drive quality standards across the application suite
    • Have familiarity with security and operational responsibilities
    • Promoting and driving innovation by actively advocating new tools, processes and technical developments to aid CI/CD
    • Handle the cloud costs for the associated cloud accounts
    • Collaborating with team members on standard methodologies, promoting effective cloud-based approaches and embracing agile methodologies, including a balanced approach to cloud account management
    • Drive automation as much as possible
    • Proactively identify operational and project risks and opportunities. Provide short term solutions whilst tracking long term resolution.
    • Ensure compliance with risk and security policies
    • Partner with the business and technology team members
    • Act as operational SME for the product while also gaining a solid understanding of the underlying cloud infrastructure and operations/observability toolset
    • Collaborate with the architecture teams to provide insight into operational impacts.
    • Represent the team at unit meetings such as the CAB, incident review, problem review.
    • Writing and maintaining support documentation, technical specifications and user guides.

    Required Skills:

    • Demonstrable experience in AWS, Azure and/or other Cloud Computing platform
    • Knowledge of git concepts, CI/CD, release strategy, branching strategy, and development / release pipelines.
    • 5+ years of experience in an Application, DevOps or SRE team
    • Proven experience leading a team
    • Detailed knowledge of operational processes
    • Able to calmly navigate and work through and resolve engineering and Service issues
    • Assist and guide the team on deployment practices, while implementing improvements to enable further automation of deployments.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the consistent track record of working effectively with all organisational levels
    • Continuously adopt a pragmatic, flexible and adaptable approach.
    • Hands on experience of automation
    • Experience with scripting languages; Bash, Groovy, YAML and/or Python
    • Use of CICD tooling such as GIT/Ansible/Jenkins/Nexus/

    Preferred

    • Financial services experience
    • Oracle / Postgres database querying
    • Broad Infrastructure knowledge (Networks, Database, Web, SAN/NAS)
    • Use of JIRA / Kanban to build epics, stories, backlog prioritisation, planning, reporting.
    • Rundeck, Control-M, BigPanda, ServiceNow, DataDog
    • ElasticSearch/Kibana
    • Understanding of Agile software engineering principles (Dev/ QA / Deployment etc)
    • ITIL qualified
