    Role description

    The Cyber Security Incident Response Intern will work closely with the L1 Cyber Security Incident Response Team, which serves as the front line of the organization's cyber defense. The intern will have the opportunity to observe and assist in detecting and responding to cyber threats in real time, gaining exposure to state-of-the-art tools, processes and technologies. This role is focused on learning and understanding how a CSIRT operates, including its workflows, processes and the intricacies of cyber security incident management



    Key Job Responsibilities and Duties 

    • Assist the L1 team in monitoring and reviewing cybersecurity alerts raised by various security tools such as SOAR, EDR, XDR, SIEM and email security systems.
    • Participate in the analysis of potential malicious emails and phishing attempts under the guidance of senior team members.
    • Shadow and learn from the team during different phases of a cybersecurity incident, including preparation, identification, containment, eradication, recovery and lessons learned.
    • Support communication with users and stakeholders to gather relevant information that aids in incident assessment.
    • Observe and learn the processes involved in escalating incidents to higher TIERs based on predefined playbooks and SOPs.
    • Assist the team in performing IOC sweeps and threat hunting, gaining hands-on experience in identifying potential threats.
