British American Tobacco Romania has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Manager in Bucharest, Romania

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Ensure compliance with Romanian legal requirements and BAT internal standards related to Health & Safety and Environmental Protection by maintaining updated procedures, authorizations, and action plans. Continuously review and improve EHS documentation and internal processes.
• Coordinate and update training materials, awareness campaigns, and internal communication on EHS topics. Ensure employees are properly trained and that knowledge evaluations are conducted accurately.
• Support company leaders in defining and assigning EHS responsibilities, organize risk assessments, and prepare preventive plans and periodic reports. Lead CSSM meetings and maintain records of high-risk areas and specific medical surveillance needs.
• Supervise the functionality of safety systems, ventilation, and emergency equipment in collaboration with internal or external specialists. Ensure regular review and communication of emergency response and evacuation plans.
• Handle the full process of incident and accident reporting, investigation, and follow-up, ensuring preventive and corrective actions are implemented in line with legal requirements and internal standards.
• Coordinate purchase orders for EHS-specific services and supplies, and supervise execution of external contracts. Keep legislative registers current and ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
• Drive the implementation of the company's Sustainability Strategy by working across departments and collecting ESG/CSR data for CSRD-aligned reporting. Supervise environmental performance, including emissions, energy, water, and waste management.
• Promote sustainable practices such as carbon footprint reduction and circular economy initiatives through employee engagement programs and external partnerships. Organize trainings, supervise sustainability audits, and implement recommendations for improvement.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree (technical studies preferred).
• Certified Health & Safety training that aligns with legal requirements.
• Strong knowledge of Romanian legal regulations (OHS, Emergency Situations).
• Experience liaising with local authorities, regulatory bodies, internal and external auditors.
• Ability to prioritize OHS issues and set action plans.
• Fluency in English.
• Proficient in computer and standard company software tools.
