IBM Internship - Migration Engineer (Linux/ Windows)

IBM Client Innovation Center Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) was established in 2012 by joining several centers in Europe. The Delivery Center is part of a global network of 80 similar centers and uses the best IBM methods of work, global processes and techniques. The center has achieved CMMI Level 5 (Capability Maturity Model Integration) and its mission is to provide customers with software solution customized to their global business needs.

Cerinte

• Fresh graduates or final year students.
• English - fluent.
• Basic knowledge in Windows and/or Linux, Networking concepts, Programming or Database management.

Would be considered a plus, basic experience in:
• Virtualization solutions (VMware ESX, VMcenter). Virtual Datacenter standards and configurations
· Windows or Linux OS system administration (and troubleshooting)
· various Linux distributions, primarily Red Hat / CentOS 3 – 6 and SUSE 10 – 12. Other distribution knowledge, such as Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, openSUSE, etc are desirable - for Linux position -
· one or more of the following industry leaders (eg Citrix , VMware Hyper V• Networking, TCP/IP, SAN LUN movements, and FCP expertise)

Responsabilitati

• As an Intern you will participate in shadowing sessions with our Technical Specialists in solving different problems.
• You will attend relevant technical courses for the technologies used.
• Support operations and maintenance activities.
• Daily system status check to ensure servers are running properly and that various scheduled jobs have run or are running successfully.
• Assure security compliance with specific Infrastructure by deploying various patches and fixes.

You will learn about:
• Performing Wintel/Linux Migration/Virtualization into a newly developed target environment.
• Migrating tasks include Wintel/Linux O.S. builds / upgrades/ virtualization (hardware allocation/distribution I/O sharing (Zones /Non-Global, etc)
• P2V & V2V hardware understanding and configuration data migration between source and target environment.
• Cloud technologies and operations management.
