JTI is one of the world's largest manufacturers of tobacco and vaping products, with operations in over 130 countries. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, JTI has approximately 46,000 employees and is a member of the Japan Tobacco group.
Here in Romania, we were among the first multinational companies to establish operations locally, back in 1993. Today, we are a team of over 1,400 colleagues working across our headquarters, factory, and global technological hub in Bucharest, and more than 30 sales offices throughout the country. We also coordinate the Bulgarian and Moldovan markets. Over the years, we have invested over 300 million euros in the local market and around 30 million euros in social and cultural projects.
In 2025, we proudly received the Top Employer certification in Romania for the 12th consecutive year. This recognition follows a rigorous evaluation across more than 20 criteria, including leadership, workplace conditions, onboarding, talent attraction, development policies, learning, well-being, and compensation.

Our certification is the result of consistently strong practices. In the latest evaluation, we achieved an outstanding overall score of 96.28% (compared to the 84.96% benchmark), with a perfect 100% score in the "Steer" category, which includes Business Strategy, People Strategy, and Leadership. In all other categories, our scores ranged between 91.75% and 98.48%.
This recognition is not a one-time achievement, it reflects our continuous efforts to raise the bar. We don’t stand still; we constantly refine our policies, integrate the latest industry trends, and pioneer new practices.
